Aotearoa New Zealand’s battle against food waste now has a new interactive ecosystem map. Created by the New Zealand Food Waste Champions 12.3, this dynamic and searchable tool provides a comprehensive view of 60-plus organisations shaping the sector, and we’re proud to say we appear on the map twice!
You can spot our ongoing mahi represented through both our Zero Waste Aotearoa and Every Bite programmes, sitting alongside a network of solution providers and enablers.
This innovative visual map is designed for a broad audience. Food businesses seeking practical reduction solutions, policymakers and academic researchers can all use it to gain critical insights. For organisations like ours, it’ll be a great resource for informing new collaboration opportunities and identifying where the national ecosystem still has gaps.
Visually, the map outlines the flow of change. A central commitment to a resilient, food-waste-free Aotearoa is interlocked with system-led ‘enablers’ in areas like Funding, Policy, Research, and Behaviour Change. The outer ring showcases frontline solution providers actively working to prevent, rescue, upcycle and recover food waste across the value chain.
Offered as a free resource to the food sector and funders, this map is a step in leveraging our collective national efforts. We encourage you to explore the tool, find Zero Waste Aotearoa and Every Bite on the front lines of prevention and behaviour change, and see how we’re all working together to fast-track a unified movement towards a truly sustainable food system.
